Mrs. Murphy has been teaching at Oneonta HS since 1985. Currently, she is advisor to the school newspaper,
The Echo. In previous years, she has coached Oneonta JV soccer, JV and Varsity Volleyball, Boys Volleyball, Jr. High Track and Field, directed plays, and coached Odyssey of the Mind teams. She began teaching English in 1980 (first at Unatego Jr-Sr HS and then at Charlotte Valley CS).
Mrs. Murphy has taught numerous staff development workshops in educational technology and best practices for Oneonta City School District, the Catskill Regional Teacher Center, and Telecom 5. In 2005-6, she was hired by Inspiration software as a Subject Matter Expert in Language Arts to create curriculum packets for Inspiration 8. She was a nationally certified trainer for Thinkfinity and was Trainer of the Month in July 2003.
Mrs. Murphy graduated from Rye High School in Rye, NY where she was an AFS domestic exchange student to Hawaii. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre Arts from Hartwick College and a masters degree in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania. Later, she earned a certificate of advanced study in Educational Administration from SUNY Cortland.
