Our high school's Health Education program is designed to engage students in interactive learning experiences to further develop their self management, relationship management, stress management, communication, decision making, planning and goal setting, and advocacy skills. Students are given skills to empower them to enhance personal, family, and community health and safety throughout their life.
Also offered by Mrs. Stanley is Contemporary Issues in Society. This class explores the history and present day intolerance that exists in our country. In addition, this class allows students to examine their own ideas and beliefs regarding discrimination. They are encouraged to speak out against intolerance and find ways to promote acceptance and appreciation for diversity within our school.
Psychology 101 This elective is suggested for Juniors and Seniors. It is a basic introduction to personality theories from some of the best known theorists such as Sigmund Freud and Eric Erickson. Students will be exploring the various personality theories such as biological, behavioral, psychodynamic, trait, and humanist personality theories. Students will also examine the concept of deviant and abnormal psychology. This is a college credit course.
