FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why can't I log into the Network???

1. Are you connected to a network? Do you know your username and password?

2. Are you trying to log in to Windows, the network, GroupWise , or another network application? Make sure you are using the correct password for the application you are trying to loginto, as some users have different passwords for different applications. Read the title bar to see what application you have open.

3. Is your network cable firmly attached at both ends? Check BOTH the computer and wall connections. Unplug and replug to make sure cable is secure.

4. Have you forgotten your network password? If so, please call or use the Computer Services Trouble Report form on our webpage: http://www.oneontacsd.org/cservice/comserform.html

5. Is CAPS LOCK off ? (look for green light by Caps Locks on top right on keyboard- tap the Caps Lock key to turn off)

6. Are you entering your log-in name correctly? (First initial, last name. If you have a common first initial, last name, someone else in the system may already have this log-in, so yours may be different. i.e. Kjohnson…we have two in the district so one is first name, last name and the other is first initial, last name. Also, some users are using their first name only. Please call or use the Computer Services Trouble Report form on our webpage if you are unsure of your login credentials: http://www.oneontacsd.org/cservice/comserform.html

7. Have you tried totally deleting and retyping log-in name and password?

8. Have you tried rebooting the computer and logging in again to the network?

9. Windows XP and 2000 users, is the “Workstation Only” checkbox under the password box checked? Having “Workstation Only” checked when you log in will stop you from getting network drives, network printers and make some applications (i.e. Admin+ and GradeQuick) not work.
