Project:
Electronic newspaper: incorporating multimedia technology into the 5/6 curriculum.

Project:
Students Publishing Books: incorporating technology in support of early literacy at the 2nd grade level

Hand-held computers: providing a 4th grade classroom with on-demand access to technology for use across the curriculum.

From January 2006 to June 2006 we will implement a pilot project focused on these 9 elementary teachers within just two buildings entitled the Technology-Enabled Teacher program.  This program will allow us to create learning communities within each of our schools.  Interested teachers were required to apply to be part of the program with a partner or even a team of other teachers from their building; library media specialists were encouraged to be a part of a team.

The above teachers will participate in monthly staff development sessions and will have guaranteed curricular technology support in their classrooms at the time they introduce a new program. They have agreed to present the final results of their respective projects to the district during the fall of 2006.

Please join us in congratulating them.  If the pilot project goes well and the program is offered again, perhaps you too can be a future Technology-Enabled Teacher!
