Indigenous People's Day at Valleyview School
Last year, the third graders in Mr. Sider's class led a school-wide campaign to teach students and staff about the untold facts about Christopher Columbus and why we need to observe Indigenous People's Day at Valleyview School. Thanks to their efforts, the school now dedicates the Friday preceding Columbus Day as Indigenous People's Day. On October 6th, Mr. Sider's third graders invited every class in the school to an exhibit and presentation about indigenous people, Columbus, and our responsibility to history, the environment, and one another. The response from students and staff was very positive!
