On Wednesday, January 26th Valleyview School celebrated "Diversity Day" with a variety of fun events. Gift-bags of newly purchased diversity-themed books were given to each classroom for teachers to add to their classroom libraries. These books, almost 75 in all, were purchased thanks to a very generous donation by the Valleyview PTO. Also, as part of their library class unit on Empathy, Ms. Shelp's 5th graders visited classrooms during the day to read a diversity-themed picture book, "All Are Welcome" by Alexandra Penfold, to students and to discuss the book's themes with them. Diversity is something that should be celebrated every day, and on this particular day Valleyview students enjoyed a few fun reminders of why.
