Goat Kissing Ceremony a Huge Success!
Principal Walt Baskin leans in to kiss the goatOn Wednesday, December 19th, third graders from Mr. Sider's class hosted a Goat Kissing Ceremony at Valleyview School.  The ceremony, part of a district-wide elementary school fundraiser to adopt goats for needy families in Kuran, India, was a great success.  If a class raised the $60.00 price to adopt a goat, the classroom teacher had to kiss a goat at an assembly. Valleyview School raised over $1700.00 and adopted 28 goats, which meant 28 staff members kissed a goat.  Greater Plains, Riverside, and Valleyview's combined income enabled the kids to adopt 48 goats. The purchase and delivery of goats in India is overseen by Ashok Malhotra and Linda Drake of The Ninash Foundation,  a local non-profit dedicated to literacy education and wellness for India's poorest children (www.ninash.org).
