Starting Strong at OMS

On August 19 and 20, OMS hosted its annual 6th Grade Bootcamp, giving incoming students their very first taste of life as Oneonta Yellowjacket middle schoolers. The program offered a crash course in all things OMS, and the building was filled with electric energy and excitement from start to finish.

Students not only connected with new classmates, but also met many of the welcoming faces of the administration, teachers, and staff who will be cheering them on every step of the way. As these new Yellowjackets transition from elementary school to the busy hallways of middle school, they are already surrounded by a strong community ready to support and encourage them.

On the evening of August 20, OMS also hosted a special Parent Night for families of incoming 6th graders. Parents had the opportunity to explore the school, meet staff, and gain helpful insights into the middle school experience. The event reinforced that the journey through OMS is not only a student milestone, but also a partnership with families as they join the Yellowjacket community.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead for the Class of 2032!
