Children and adults run across the grass through clouds of colored powder at Neahwa Park. Text reads, “October 10. Ready, Set, Color Run! OMS Splash of Color Run.”

White shirts didn’t stay white for long at Oneonta Middle School’s third annual Splash of Color Run on Saturday, October 10. By the end of the event, participants wore colorful reminders of a fun afternoon at Neahwa Park.

Hosted in partnership with the YMCA and 5 Star Subaru, the event offered a fun run and 5K through the park. More than 160 runners registered in advance, with participation climbing to over 200 on race day.

OMS students stationed themselves along the course to cheer runners on and shower them with color. Their encouragement helped keep participants moving, while each color station left runners a little brighter than before.

Oneonta Middle School also held a chicken BBQ fundraiser during the event, with proceeds supporting OMS activities and initiatives. Community members who purchased a meal helped support opportunities for middle school students throughout the year.

Now in its third year, the Splash of Color Run has become a fun fall tradition for OMS and the Oneonta community. Students had their own part in making the day memorable, and the turnout gave the school plenty to celebrate.

Thank you to the YMCA, 5 Star Subaru, the students and volunteers who helped put the day together, and everyone who came out to run or enjoy a chicken BBQ dinner. Your support made a difference for our students!
