🏐 A little winter break throwback!
As we wrap up winter recess, we’re looking back at the OHS Student Council’s annual Lunchtime Volleyball Tournament, which wrapped up last week with Team Aubry taking the win! 👏🏆
Over three days of competition, eight student teams brought energy and school spirit to the gym during lunch, continuing a tradition that students look forward to each year.
Congratulations to all who participated, and thank you to Student Council for organizing another successful tournament! 💛💙 GO 'JACKETS!!

The visit was filled with enthusiasm and meaningful interaction. While our younger Yellowjackets enjoyed listening to stories, many were especially eager to read aloud to the high school students, proudly sharing their developing skills and confidence.
Moments like these highlight the value of cross-grade connections and the positive impact older students can have as role models. It was a wonderful afternoon centered on literacy, leadership, and shared smiles. 📖 🐝

As we approach the upcoming weekend, the National Weather Service is forecasting a period of exceptionally cold temperatures across our region. With the safety and well-being of our community in mind, I want to share important information provided by Otsego County regarding available warming shelters for individuals and families who may need a safe, warm place during this extreme cold.
Included with this message is the official Otsego County press release outlining the locations, hours, and additional details related to these warming shelters. Please review this information carefully and share it with anyone who may benefit from these resources.
Thank you for your continued care and support of one another. Stay safe and warm.
Sincerely,
Thomas F. Brindley
Superintendent of Schools

On the eve of Veterans Day, we pause to honor and thank all who have served our nation in uniform. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice protect the freedoms we hold dear.
We are especially grateful for the veterans within our Yellowjacket community, among our staff, families, and friends, whose service continues to inspire us every day. 💙🤍❤️

This week, many of our elementary students received brand new winter coats, gloves, and handmade hats thanks to the generosity of the Oneonta Rotary Club and their continued support through Operation Warm.
Each year, Rotary members raise funds to make sure children in our community stay warm all winter long, providing more than 200 coats, hats, and mittens to students at Greater Plains, Riverside, and Valleyview Elementary Schools, as well as Laurens Central School.
The handmade hats this year made it even more special — you could tell just how much love went into every single one. 🐝 GO 'JACKETS!
