On Wednesday, June 11, the Oneonta City School District proudly hosted its first-ever Tenure Reception—an event that will now become an annual tradition held at the final Board of Education meeting each academic year. This new celebration honors a milestone achievement for educators and staff who have earned tenure within the district.

Led by Superintendent Thomas Brindley, the evening was a joyful reflection on the dedication, growth, and meaningful impact made by this year’s tenure recipients. Each honoree received a certificate and a Yellowjacket pin—a symbol of their permanent place within the OCSD family. Following a brief photo opportunity, guests enjoyed light refreshments and celebratory cupcakes.

“Tenure is not given lightly,” Mr. Brindley shared in his remarks. “It is earned through years of dedication, growth, professionalism, and, most importantly, unwavering commitment to the students and families of Oneonta. This ceremony is our chance to say: We appreciate you. We value you. And we’re grateful that you’ve chosen to grow your career—and share your gifts—here in our Yellowjacket Family.”

The event recognized staff members who earned tenure throughout the 2024–2025 school year. These individuals have consistently demonstrated excellence in their roles, strong leadership in their buildings, and an unshakable commitment to student success.
