“Cool as Ice” is more than just a clever name—it’s a powerful reminder of what teamwork and compassion can accomplish. OMS sixth graders Colin Millea (team captain), Griffin Gutierrez, Mac Heller, and Zyair James-Speller used 1,145 canned goods to construct a giant ice cream cone, now on display at Southside Mall. Their CANstruction project helps raise awareness about hunger in our community and supports local food banks through the Ninash Foundation’s generous donation. With the belief that students cannot learn on an empty stomach, these young Yellowjackets are showing that together, we CAN make a difference!
