Spring Fun at OMS

The Second Annual Bike-A-Thon at Oneonta Middle School wrapped up just a short while ago, and what a turnout! With sunshine, music, and a parking lot full of activity, the event brought families together for a day of fun, fitness, and community.

The Bike-A-Thon kicked off the morning with two courses available—one for our younger riders and another for more advanced bikers. The Oneonta Fire Department joined the advanced group to help keep everyone safe on the route, and their presence was much appreciated by students and families alike.

Right after the ride, the OMS parking lot turned into a lively Spring Fling celebration. There were two inflatables—one bounce house and one obstacle course—both of which were busy all afternoon. School clubs and local organizations had tents set up with activities and giveaways, and families spread out on the hillside or relaxed in lawn chairs while enjoying their BBQ chicken lunches. Music played in the background, and the dunk tank (staffed by the Varsity Girls Wrestling team) kept the energy high. The costume contest was a fun highlight, with plenty of creativity on display from our youngest Yellowjackets.

Inside the gym, the first-ever Cake Contest featured nine fantastic submissions. Each one showed off creativity, effort, and some serious decorating skills—it was tough to pick a favorite!

All in all, it was a fantastic day centered on movement, connection, and community spirit. Huge thanks to everyone who helped plan, set up, ride, volunteer, bake, and cheer each other on. The middle school already looking forward to next year!
