Today on April 29, a dynamic group of 26 student leaders from a wide range of Oneonta High School clubs gathered at the district office for a half-day leadership development experience titled Leading Out Loud. The event, facilitated by Dr. Renata Williams and Faith Tiemann of Included Perspectives, focused on helping students elevate their communication, self-awareness, and leadership skills in ways that will have a lasting impact on their school community.
Throughout the morning and early afternoon, students participated in engaging activities centered around reflection, team-building, and scenario-based conversations. The training encouraged students to “level up” their leadership—both in and out of school—by exploring what makes them stand out, learning how to handle tough conversations with grace, and discovering the traits that inspire others to follow their lead.
Several OHS and district staff members also joined the event to support students and engage in the training alongside them, reinforcing the shared commitment to building a strong and welcoming school environment.
Whether they're organizing events, running meetings, or simply modeling positive behavior in the halls, the student participants walked away better equipped to be confident, compassionate leaders. We’re proud of their commitment to growing as individuals—and as Yellowjackets.
