Welcome to Kindergarten! Sign August 20 Kindergarten Orientation

Small shoes, big smiles, and plenty of excitement filled our elementary schools today as the Oneonta City School District welcomed some of its newest Yellowjackets for Kindergarten Orientation!

Members of the OHS Class of 2039 had the opportunity to enter their new schools, meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, and become familiar with many of the friendly faces who will be there to welcome and support them throughout the school year. For students and their families, the orientation offered a first look at the places where so much learning, growth, and discovery will soon take place.

Beginning kindergarten is an exciting milestone, but it can also bring plenty of questions and a few nervous feelings. Today’s orientation was designed to help make that transition a little more comfortable by giving students an opportunity to experience their new surroundings before the first day of school. As they explored the buildings and connected with their teachers, our youngest learners began taking their first steps toward becoming part of the Yellowjacket community.

Throughout the district, our faculty and staff have been working hard to prepare welcoming classrooms and engaging learning experiences for the year ahead. In just a few short weeks, these spaces will be filled with new friendships, meaningful lessons, creativity, curiosity, and the many special moments that make kindergarten such an important year.

We are incredibly excited to welcome the Class of 2039 to the Yellowjacket family and look forward to watching these young Yellowjackets learn, grow, and explore all that the Oneonta City School District has to offer.

We will see you soon, Class of 2039!
