Engaging Moments: Senator & Singing

Engaging Moments: Senator & Singing

In recent weeks, Oneonta City School District has been buzzing with excitement as two special events unfolded, showcasing the talent, engagement, and community spirit that defines our vibrant district.

On December 4, the halls of Oneonta High School resonated with the spirit of civic engagement as Senator Oberacker visited Ms. Cathy Lynch's Participation in Government class in the Perrone Library. Students had the unique opportunity to engage with the Senator, posing thoughtful questions and gaining firsthand insights into the workings of our government.

The atmosphere was one of respect and curiosity as students delved into topics ranging from education to local governance. Senator Oberacker commended the students for their thoughtful inquiries, emphasizing the importance of civic participation and the role young minds play in shaping the future.

This interactive session not only enriched the students' understanding of government but also underscored the commitment of Oneonta City School District to providing real-world learning experiences that go beyond the classroom.

The Oneonta High School Concert Choir kicked off the holiday season and took center stage at a Rotary Luncheon. The talented choir, under the direction of Mrs. Jennifer White, delivered a captivating performance.

The concert choir, composed of dedicated and passionate students, presented a repertoire of beautiful songs that showcased their musical talents. The highlight of the performance was the rendition of "White Christmas," featuring impressive Tenor and Bass solos that garnered surprise and admiration from the audience. Superintendent Brindley, who is also a Rotarian, expressed his pride in the students, stating, "I am so grateful to our OHS Concert Choir students, teacher Mrs. White, and accompanist Mr. Horne for sharing their time and talent with us. You are all a source of great pride for this Yellowjacket community!"

These two events serve as shining examples of the diverse and enriching experiences offered within the Oneonta City School District. As we celebrate the achievements of our students and the support of our community partners, we look forward to more moments that contribute to the holistic development of the Yellowjacket community.

GO 'JACKETS!
