Amy Rockwell Burnsworth

Amy Rockwell Burnsworth was born and raised in Oneonta, attending OCSD through 10th grade. Amy completed her undergraduate studies at St. John Fisher College in Rochester and earned her MBA from SUNY Empire State College. Her children, Avery and Owen, are both students in the Oneonta City School District.
Amy is employed by Spectrum Reach in Media Sales as a Senior Account Executive. Amy has served as a Board member of the United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of First United Methodist Church and Board Member of the Ricky J. Parisian Scholarship Foundation. 

Susan Kurkowski

Susan is employed by the Oneonta Family YMCA as an HR/Payroll Administrator. She and her family are all graduates of the Oneonta City School District. Susan is in her fourth term as a member of the OCSD Board of Education and serves as Vice President. She has previously served on the Wellness and Policy Committees and presently serves on Finance, Policy, and the Academic Subcommittee for the District. Susan has recently been appointed to represent District 8 on the NYS School Boards Association’s Resolutions Committee.

She has volunteered her time to many community organizations including the Executive Board of Oneonta Little League, Huntington Memorial Library Board of Trustees, Oneonta Reading is Fundamental and the Parent/Teacher Organizations in her children's schools. She presently serves on the Future of Oneonta Foundation.

Shawn Beckerink

Shawn Beckerink is a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during Operation Desert Storm. Shawn and his wife, Sabrina, moved to Oneonta in 1997 where he was stationed after attending the New York State Police Academy. In 2017, Shawn retired from the New York State Police in the rank of Investigator. He had 20 plus years of law enforcement experience between the NY StatePolice and other agencies he was previously employed by. 

During his tenure with the NY State Police, Shawn served the Oneonta community as a road trooper, and was promoted, in 2012, to the rank of Technical Sergeant and transferred to the New York State Police Headquarters in Albany, NY.

Baseball is a big part of Shawn’s life and has volunteered his time coaching with the Oneonta Little League and with the Oneonta Hurricanes travel baseball team. Currently, Shawn feels blessed to spend retirement doing the things he loves like caring for his family, spending time umpiring NCAA and High School baseball, golfing, hunting, and camping. 

Shawn and Sabrina have two children, Ethan and Eliza. Ethan is a graduate from Oneonta and Eliza is currently a student in the Oneonta City School District.

Mike Iannelli

Mike has been involved in education for over 20 years. He is currently the Athletic Director and Physical Education teacher at Morris Central School and began his career at ONC BOCES as an Adaptive Physical Education teacher.  Mike and his wife Deb have three boys; Michael, Anthony, and Nikolas, all of whom are currently enrolled in our district.  
 
Mike received his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education at West Virginia University where he played Division 1 soccer.  He also attended Herkimer County Community College and captained two National Championship teams and was selected an All-American.  He is the current President of the Calio Soccer Club and volunteers countless hours passing along his passion for soccer to the young athletes he coaches and comes in contact with.

Maureen Artale

Maureen Artale has worked for SUNY Oneonta since 1998.  Maureen has been the College Registrar since 2008 and has held various positions in student affairs and academic affairs.  She earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from SUNY Oneonta in 1998, and a master's degree in Social Policy from SUNY Empire.  Maureen and her husband Thomas have two children, Abigael and Declan who attend OMS and Valleyview.

Maureen has regularly been involved in volunteer work throughout the community and is looking forward to being more directly involved in the school district as a board member.

Shari Johnson-Ploutz

Shari grew up in Unadilla, NY and has lived in Oneonta for over 30 years. She moved here in 1990 after accepting the position of Head Athletic Trainer at Oneonta State. She currently works as a Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgery for Bassett Healthcare at Fox Hospital. She has a Bachelor’s in Physical Education ( SUNY Cortland  1990) and  Masters in Education and Sports medicine ( The University of Virginia 1991) Physician Assistant degree (Albany Med  1997). Her 25 year Physician Assistant career has included work in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Orthopedic Surgery/sports medicine and General Surgery.

Shari served on the Ricky J. Parisian Memorial Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors, Orpheus Theatre Board of Directors and remains an active volunteer/costumer with Orpheus Theatre’s Starstruck players.

Shari lives in the city of Oneonta with her husband Fred and their 2 daughters Gialina and Adriana who attend Oneonta High School and Oneonta Middle School. She is eager to serve the community and students in The Oneonta City School District focusing on creating continued opportunities for enhancing the educational experience.

Ryan Swan

Ryan Swan graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and started working at SUNY Oneonta in 2007 in Information Technology. He has advised various student clubs and organizations on campus, as well as mentoring interns and student employees.

During his time in the community, Ryan has held positions including Valleyview Elementary PTO Treasurer, the Oneonta World of Learning board of directors, SUNY Oneonta Faculty Senator and Steering Committee, SUNY FACT2 Representative, President of the Computer Science Teachers Association of Central NY, and is a frequent conference presenter. Ryan and his wife met as Freshmen at SUNY Oneonta, and have 2 children advancing in the school district.

Amendment to the Open Meetings Law

On May 12, 2009 the Governor signed into law Chapter 27 of the Laws of 2009. The bill, which became effective the day it was signed, amended the Open Meetings Law to require publication of the time and place of public meetings on the public body's website. The amendment applies to all public school districts in the State.
The amendment reads:
When a public body has the ability to do so, notice of the time and place of a meeting given in accordance with subdivision one or two of this section, shall also be conspicuously posted on the public body's internet website.
