School Counseling Program

Elementary (K-5)

Each of the three elementary schools in the Oneonta City School District has a school counseling program which is designed to help children reach their full potential as students in our schools and as members of the Oneonta community. The intent of the program is to enhance the social and emotional development of our students.

The school counselor provides classroom lessons, small group meetings and individual counseling. The school counselor works closely with school staff, students, parents, and community agencies to assure that each student is supported in reaching their potential.

Middle & High School 612

The 6th -12th grade school counseling program provides diverse services for students in conjunction with faculty administration and community.

The counseling team staff provides counseling to assist the individual growth of the members of the student body. This includes academic counseling, social/emotional counseling, school-to-work counseling, and college counseling.

The counselor’s role includes student scheduling and record keeping, development of school-community interaction, coordination of numerous student programs, and provision of informational and professional services afforded to students and their families.
