Pending grant funding, the Oneonta City School District is pleased to offer our 2024-2025 Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Program. The program is free to eligible Oneonta City School District children.
The Oneonta City School District will continue to offer funding to our community partners: YMCA (located at Center Street School), Bugbee Children’s Center, Yaks Youth Center, Opportunities for Otsego, and Otsego Christian Academy. Each UPK program will offer 2 ½ hours of FREE UPK programming Monday through Friday. For a fee, our UPK partners also offer wrap around care for working families. The UPK program times are as follows:
YMCA: 9:30 –11:30 a.m.
Opportunities for Otsego: 8:30-11:00 a.m.
Bugbee Children’s Center: 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Yaks Youth Center: 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Otsego Christian Academy: 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Springbrook: Kids Unlimited Preschool: 9:00-11:30 a.m.
The UPK program is designed and supported by New York to “provide four-year-old children with a universal opportunity to access high-quality pre-kindergarten programs that prepare them for future school success by developing strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.” Eligible participants must be four on or before December 1st of the year in which they enroll in UPK and they must be a resident of the Oneonta City School District.
Registration for Universal Pre-Kindergarten begins on February 7th. If you are interested in having your child participate in this program, please complete the form below and the attached application linked at the bottom of this page. Return it to me ASAP. Initial placements will begin April 26th. The site director of your child’s UPK placement will welcome you directly.
