Physical Education Mission Statement:
Physical Education is based upon the acquisition of knowledge and skills as a foundation for engaging in PHYSICAL ACTIVITY; however, the mere acquisition of knowledge and skills is not enough. The mission of P.E. is to enable all students to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life.
Course Description:
The Physical Education program in grades 9-12 is designed to contribute to the physical, emotional, and social development of the student. In Grades 9 and 10, class activities are based on “team” concepts and team sports. PE in Grades 11 and 12 become less oriented on team sports and transition to “lifelong fitness”.
Activities:
Please see the PE Units tab on the left for a list of the possible units for the year.
Requirements:
All students are required by NYS to successfully complete four years of P.E. Students are given ½ credit for each year of completion.
Evaluation:
Both objective and subjective evaluations are utilized to determine student’s grades, along with writing assignments and unit tests.
