Our English Language Arts Program
Our Language Arts Program is embedded throughout the fourth grade day. Small-group direct literacy instruction, independent stations for Daily 5 and CAFE, Reading Workshop, Writing Workshop, journal-writing, and opportunities for sharing orally are some of the many ways we challenge students and guide them in the literacy learning process. In addition to our McGraw-Hill Wonders Reading Series, we highlight authors, illustrators, book series, and a variety of genre using great works of children's literature and poetry. We encourage the love of reading with daily read-alouds and DEAR (Drop Everything and Read!) time. We also promote reading to learn by integrating thematic studies and the content areas.
