English 12 Literature and Composition is a course designed to build upon students’ reading and writing skills; communication skills, both oral and written; decision-making skills; listening skills; cooperative learning skills; critical thinking skills; and researching skills, among others. The Common Core skills honed in the course will aim toward further molding a literate person, whatever that person’s future objectives of college, career, the military, etc.
Students will be given the opportunity to work independently in some units, will be graded upon discussion contributions and ability to work in a group.
Literature Possible Texts to be Covered
Because students are coming to the class from a variety of backgrounds, students are surveyed at the beginning of the course about literary preferences, and a list of previously read books is compiled, therefore, our reading list fluctuates. A shift in state standards also dictates more concentration on non-fiction pieces.
